...For the first time in six years, the USC Gamecocks are in the Associated Press Top 10.
They're ranked number seven in the nation. In fact, thanks to the Trojans' collapse against Stanford, they're ahead of that 'other' USC, which checks in at number ten. (The USA Today Coaches' poll was stingy, however. They still have the Gamecocks at 12, below Southern Cal).
...this year's group could rival the 1984's "Black Magic" squad for on-field success....
... this year's matchups against Tennessee and Florida will take on much more significance than in year's past. Instead of playing for an upset or a chance to sneak back into the title race, USC will defend it's leader status in the SEC East. And if they win out, they'll be rewarded with a trip to the SEC title game in Atlanta on December 1st.
It won't be easy. Florida's still got Tim Tebow, college football's one-man offensive wrecking ball. They must go to Arkansas to face arguably the best running back in the nation, Darren McFadden. And if anyone had Tennessee scratched off their list of contenders, Saturday's 35-14 beatdown of Georgia shows they'll be in the mix as well.
