Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Wow! He should definitely expect a lifetime ban to follow. They don't ever want to see a repeat of that from anyone else.

Idiot. And a bad sportsman to boot. He deserves to be banned.

I gotta say though, as a long time practitioner of TaeKwonDo,

definitely bad sportsmanship and he should be banned etc. but,

that was a NICE kick!

No kidding, though I'd hope it was (he IS an Olympic athlete).

I'm just sayin'

most people, when they get disgraced get a mugshot or some other pic of them looking sinister or dastardly (case in point the turkish wrestler), this guy gets a shot of himself administering a hook kick to someone's head at full extension.

now THAT'S the way to go down in infamy.

Yeah, I definitely do agree that that was a beautiful kick. Was that a hook kick? Looked like a sidekick to me. Wish I could do either like that, though (gotta get my head back more).

(the video is above, it's about 3:20 in)

I couldn't get the video to run just now, but I did see it before and it was a hook;

also, you can tell by the pointed toe/ strike with the sole of the foot rather than the heel or blade.

plus, side kicks to the head are slow and hard to land; he fer sure would've knocked the ref down with a side kick, too. There's a lot of weight behind those.

Fidel Castro has given this his seal of approval.

I do hope the referee is okay.

My 8 year old gets frustrated, too, but this was an intentional assault. Poor sportsmanship, indeed.

I wonder if the shutterbug will win a Pulitzer prize. That shot is an instant classic.

Yeah.....that was a pretty crappy thing to do. Permanent ban for all international competition for him is really justified. Not just Tae Kwon Do, but anything and everything. Swoosh! anybody else hear a flushing sound?

....And no, it wasn't such a great kick. Good form and all, but he didn't drop his target. (glad for that anyway!)

Maybe he's luckier than the ref that he didn't drop him, because athletes have been arrested for such acts.

He deserves arrest, yes. A little visit to a chinese prison might help his personal development.

Update: A Cuban taekwondo athlete and his coach were banned for life after Angel Matos kicked the referee in the face following his bronze-medal match disqualification.

Thanks for the update, I didn't realize the coach had never apologised. They both got what they deserved, and no more than was expected. Now I just hope the ITF sticks to it's decision.
