Update: Rihanna Will Testify FOR Chris Brown

advertisement

Rihanna has agreed to "speak to the [prosecutor's] on Chris' behalf." The snitch continued, "Rihanna doesn't want this to go any further, she will be speaking to [prosecutors] and - if need be – admit to her part in the [incident]."

And it gets better. Another person close to the case told MediaTakeOut.com that Chris Brown and prosecutors are EXTREMELY close to a plea deal. According to that insider, Chris would plead "no contest" to misdemeanor domestic battery and receive NO JAIL TIME.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

What? you are an idiot. If she is that stupid to go back to an abuser than she does not deserve a covergirl contract. She has no excuse, she has a support system, she has money, she can get out and chooses to stay. she is twisted and little girls all over do not need to see anymore of her mess. Next time she gets hit or killed, then she will have asked for it. boycott covergirl as long as they support abuse.

young people are easily influenced and will always look to celebrities as roll models. Celebs need to realise this and take responsibility IMO.

Shouldn't, but they do. Entertainers and sports personalities will always be idolized by young people.

Someone's buying these cd's, they don't go plantinum just by crossing their fingers. They specifically cater to young people, nothing wrong with that, but by doing it they accept a certain amount of responsibilty to young people.

Well, you know, my mom says that, to him or her who dies by his/her own hand, even death must taste sweet.

She started saying that because my dad was an alcoholic and kept drinking--he died of cirrhosis of the liver. So did my uncle--also an alcoholic.

If Rihanna dies at the hand of Chris Brown after another beating, don't fool yourself--she will have had plenty to do with it by pulling a Tammy Wynnette and "standing by her man" as it were.

Does anyone reporting this know the whole story?

Who knows, maybe she hit him first? I am not saying that would excuse violence towards women but would that be a fair double standard? I don't know.

Bottom line is she's young and naive, they both are, and I think the media should leave them the heck alone for a bit.

Me? No way!! But some people like that sort of "dramatic" relationship and that's not really for me to judge... personally I think it's crazy but that is only my opinion, and apparently yours too.

No, that's not a fair double-standard. I've got a simple rule, don't hit unless you like being hit.

And if you like being hit, I'm not going to jail for you and I'm hitting the road. Believe or not, some women appear to invite this type of behavior.

If I hadn't heard a woman, who had been in previous abusive relationships, say just that, I wouldn't believe it either.

She is supporting Chris Brown, the abuser. Rihanna is essentially doing african-american woman and all other races a dis-service. She is saying it's OK to be beat to a pulp by your significant other. The important thing is him not you, your dignity and self-respect. The african-american groups and social service groups, police departments, etc that have been working on decreasing the level of domestic abuse in the community just lost a lot of ground. Nothing like a very public figure to say to say to all "Go ahead, hit me, I support you none the less and won't press charges."

Good going girl

Dear Cover Girl,

Cancel her contract. She isn't what you want representing you anymore. UNLESS you use her battered face next time she gets beat to show just how good your product line really is. Tag line, " You can still go to work and no one will ever know!"

If they were not famuos, this would not get any press. What he did was very wrong, you should not hit a women, even if they strike first. But if she does not want to press charges that is up to her. Everyday there are women out there doing the same thing, they dont press charges and the person that beats them don't get in any trouble. So fo those who say it is due to him being a Celeb, well that is incorrect it is up to the State to pick up the charges now. If they don't, do we slam the state for not standing up for her?

If you feel she is a bad role model for your kids now then put a stop to them looking up to her. Tell them there are other ways. Again you are a parent, you should be the ones speaking to you kids and they should look up to you, not a over paid singer.

Well it is nice they have worked this out. But this also stinks. This is nothing more than: "Rihanna please... if you don't do this I will never work again. You know you hit me too!" Cut me a break. The shame of this situation is that these two young people will have to resolve this issue on the biggest stage for all the world to see. I've said it in other places and I will say it again... "If you have to put your hands on someone to get your point across, YOU ARE WITH THE WRONG PERSON!"

I think the record companies should step in and force them to split! This is bad for both of their images and it will effect record sales. If they are too silly to leave each other, the 'adults' should step in and put things in perspective. Jay Z where are you?? Stop this madness!!!

Must be a factory somewhere
Keeps on cranking them out
Seems like they travel in pairs
Not worth the trouble but too full of clout

Somebody must play his game
They get stuck in the here and now
Lending and borrowing pain
His fist, your face, you kiss the ground

But he don't do nothing half way
Complete this equation
He needs justification
Distaff affirmation
To keep on crankin' it out

We could build cell on cell
Mainline him straight to hell
But that would not dispel
Violent men, hard-headed women, unloved children

Must be a garden somewhere
Keeps on sending them down
Big eyes, big teeth, big hair
Ready to breed with the nearest clown

She has the will to complain
But something won't let her
Break free of the tether
Even though she knows better
She just can't figure it out

We can prescribe for pain
Have her declared insane
Even all this won't change
Violent men, hard-headed women, unloved children

We let them find their own way
While everyone chooses
To ignore the abuses
We've all got excuses
We keep on, keep on cranking them out

And nobody has the time
To look at the great design
But they're all from the same bloodline
Violent men, hard-headed women, unloved children

Rihanna is not a role model, I don't think most celebrities are. People shouldn't think of celebrities as role models either, yes there are the young girls/boys who will look up to them, but that's a fact of life. You're always in awe of someone who has it all or has gone through something dramatic and lived to tell the tales of extraordinary feet. But albeit Rihanna is a celeb, she may not be interested in what people think of her in that context. She's young, she does what she wants and will not be told what to do. She is not the good girl as she already has stated with her latest album.

This is just my opinion, but I have friends who are in far worse situations than her and have been beaten by their men and still stick to them. I was almost in the same boat then I realized if I don't get out, I'd go to jail for killing the man because I was getting sick of being put down and being called names only because he said and always reiterated "all women are the same". A girl can only have so much patience, and I wish more women would realize happiness is only through your own true self worth and if the man doesn't give you 100%, he is broken and needs to be discarded. There are other men out there who are loving and devoted if you give them love back as well.

I agree with those who say she's not setting a good example to anyone, but most importantly, for her own well being, how can she take someone back after he could have killed her? I don't understand this!! But this surely is a great example of low or no self-esteem at all. I would have never expected this from her (yeah, I like I know her..) but she should have thought first before calling the police if she was going to take him back! People won't forget seeing her picture and what's worst, she is encouraging all abusers to give second chances...I no longer have respect for her. Did anyone tell her this would damage her image? Jay Z--Diddy, all these guys...you need to mentor her better!! and Parents..shame on you too!
