Detroit Couple BBQ Their Child to Avoid Funeral Costs

advertisement

One of the most vile acts of non-human behavior has happened in Detroit with two animals disguised as human parents.  Animals may even be disgusted with me for saying that because they have more respect for life than these low lifes.  It appears that there was constant abuse in the home, but from what's been reported at USA Today, the child was put in a barbecue grill after his death to, as these two future prison ragdolls put it, "to avoid funeral costs."

This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

I found these, but I am not really fond of FOX normally. This couple is deplorable. I saw the years that they are getting, and I really don't think that they are enough. I hope that the child she still has (the one that was scalded) will never be placed back with her. If my son were to pass away, I don't think I could even contemplate just tossing him on my grill. There are too many ways to save on funeral costs if you just look around.

I seriously doubt he just "died". They probably abused him, he died, and they tried to cover it up. That's why the other baby has been burned, too, over 35% of his body . Sick.

Funerals are too expensive. I agree. in many other countries people do the same thing because they cannot afford a decent burial/cremation. In India they just chuck dead bodies in the river.

Looks like funerals will be another thing only the rich can afford soon.

Look it up.

People have alternate burial methods all over the world. No need to get "nasty" with you bad self.

In historical times people routinely placedt he bodies of the dead in communal fires. Its a matter of economics.

I think their method is a bit harsh. But trust me in the woods of the Blue ridge mountains, many people are buried without the benefit of a mortician.

RTFA. - "A Detroit couple accused of trying to cremate their dead 2-year-old son on a barbecue grill, and then hiding the remains while collecting welfare benefits for the child, were both sentenced to prison today. There is evidence of foul play"

While I see your point Xipotec, there is a difference between putting your DEAD CHILD in a communial fire, or a pyre of some sorts, and cooking them on the grill. I think Dom is more offended by you insensitivty than anything else. For christ's sake, burying him in the back yard would have been more accecptable.

Besides about 99.999999% of counties in the US will provide direct burials/cremations if there is no next of kin or the parties involved can't afford to do so, simply for the reasons of disease. This was preformed by uneducated and uninformed idiots. There is speculation that the child was murdered/accidently killed, so in order to avoid criminal charges this is what they resorted to.

Seems like their plan didn't work out too well.

Read the article next time.

Uh yeah, I live in those mountains, and while it may be true that on occasion in the backwoods people are buried without a mortician, that is extremely different from throwing a dead body in a barbecue. And other cultures having alternative burial methods, such as ceremoniously burning their dead, is also completely different from putting a body in a barbecue grill.

These people did not do this because they have alternative beliefs about death, or even because they couldn't afford a real funeral. There was a history of abusing their child, it sounds like this contributed to its death, and they put it in the barbecue presumably to avoid being found out. They are sick, and your defense of them is inexcusable.

Oh come on... this was a child!

Everybody knows children can be killed without question for the first part of their lives. Its legal and convenient, and millions are vocal about what a good thing it is to get rid of the disgusting little vermin

This story seems to be about somebody who may have gone a little past the normal time limit and when they did kill the child, they cremated it at home to save expenses

If anything, maybe they should be warned to kill any of their future children a little earlier because at some point, children begin to look too much like real humans

alanwillingham, please don't make this into another extremist political-religious, self-righteous grandstanding event. God Bless the poor little child that obviously suffered at the hands of heartless, cruel, self-absorbed bastards who clearly had no qualms about inflicting tortuous pain on an innocent living, breathing being. However, to equate child abuse with a woman's personal choice seems to indicate you have one-dimensional thinking: Your way or no way. Get real. You want to do something about 'saving' children? Contribute to the poor little souls who are here and suffering like this blessed child did. You're a typical 'pro-life' hypocrite.

Quite the contrary...

The story doesn't indicate how old the child was, but it is entirely possible the mother simply exercised her right to choose in a way that you don't approve

Why should a woman's right to choose be so restricted? It is often the case that events unfold that are entirely unpredictable soon after the child's birth that make it extremely difficult for her to live or manage her life as she expected

Quite possibly, some setback of this nature is occurred, and the woman simply made her choice accordingly

Since no one knows with certainty what may happen despite the best of intentions, a woman should be free to choose until the child is two or three years old, and not forced by the state to be an unwilling nanny

Alan Willingham~ I found the articles on the FOX news website. I posted the links above in post #3.2, and the child was about 2 years old.

According to our laws in the U.S. (this includes the people in Detroit), once the child is born, it is called murder. There are better ways to deal with an unwanted child after it is born. I do not know the specifics of the laws reguarding this in Detroit, but after so many hours, a baby could just be left at a hospital or some other emergency service area. That child is normally put up for adoption then. This is not really an issue of pro-life or pro-choice.

i mean, its disturbing....but much different than cremating?

keep in mind, if we keep enbalming bodies to keep them intact longer, we're totally setting ourselves up for a zombie attack! think about it, when the zombies finally pull a Dawn of the Dead on us, they'll be much more of them, and they'll be much more intact.

cremate them, bbq them, or stick them on top of a hill for the buzzards. they'll be much easier to be-head if they barely have a head anymore! :) :) :)

and on the scientific level, a bbq can't possibly generate enough heat to cremate a body.

most machines operate between 1,500 to 1,900 degrees F. The actual cremation time again varies depending upon the type of machine. Low capacity retorts take approximately 3 hours to complete a cremation while high capacity machines take less than one hour

I have a pretty good quality bbq at home, and it gets up to 600 degrees. Not even close.

The social level is far more disturbing , so I'll just stick with the scientific one.

I don't understand this level of outrage. If this were a case of two parents burying a dead child in their backyard to avoid funeral costs, would there be the same response? Obviously they were attempting a do-it-yourself cremation, which I'm sure is illegal, but it's not like the child wasn't already dead and it's not like they were cooking it to eat (at least, the article doesn't say that).

They sound like desperate people that made a mistake and did something stupid, and now they're paying for it. There's no excuse for dehumanizing them like the OP did, or grounds for capital punishment like others have suggested.

Thank you Mojo31979 for posting the entire article. This is the most disgusting thing I have read in quite a while. I think in instances of child abuse, the perpetrator should not be allowed a plea deal. They both deserve life in prison. See how the other prisoners treat child abusers!!

One of the most vile acts of non-human behavior has happened in Detroit with two animals disguised as human parents. Animals may even be disgusted with me for saying that because they have more respect for life than these low lifes.

Animals would never lower themselves to that of a mere human....besides animals don't use a BBQ for their young. They are unable to light a flame. and have more dignity.

(CHILD BURNED TO DEATH.; Mother Wouldn't Let Him Be Taken to Hospital When Dying. )

See the Ny times....

This was a failed attempt at black humor.

I was attempting to link this horror to the economy and how some would blame all the horrible acts in our country on it. Major fail. Sorry if it offended. But sometimes you can only view the abominations of this world through a humorist lens without turning to stone.

There are no words for this one. Well, not many anyway. The first are that yes, the parents should get the death penalty. They obviously have no value of human life, and if they have no value of human life - why let them live with humans, in any capacity. They can just hurry up, get to the fun judgement part and let hell deal with them for all eternity.

The second are: Yes, there are some cultures that burn a body as a funeral or religious rite. However, Detroit isn't that rife with such culture. Even if this was an event like that - they are usually highly religious and public in nature. Somehow, I don't think Kingsford and some lighter fluid are in the playbook.

Honestly, they are pretty much a mockery at the moment.

Louella, does your town have a square? Mine doesn't...I think they went the way of home-cooking, opening doors for people and wearing a belt with your trousers.

I just read the report ... this IS real. This is why I believe in a woman't right to choice. Although, it looks like this couple decided to have children, may Roe vs. Wade never be overthrown.

Sick, sick people. They got one and it looks like the other one was only a matter of time. How sad, how tragic.

In answer to Eric Etheridge on my comment:

Almost every town in Iowa does have a town square, and actually it is just a saying regardless of whether a town has one or not.

Actually these parent's should be burned at the stake!

what's the problem? Oh, the funeral house doesn't get it's cut.

Kinda like when I bought my house from my sister & didn't use a realtor.

Cletus~ You may want to read the blog a bit more carefully and possibly look up other articles on this. I don't think it had so much to do with the actually funeral costs. I believe that the seeder was trying to make a point about the decline in personal responsibility. The first thing that most people focus on in this case would be the abuse this 2 year old suffered before finally dying.
