A firefighter has been arrested for taking part in MMA (mixed martial arts) bouts while out on workman’s compensation.
Los Angeles firefighter Raphael Davis (above, in the black and white trunks) had the cuffs slapped on him after investigators noticed he competed in seven MMA bouts while out on workman’s compensation. Oops.
Davis, who now faces charges of insurance fraud, could be sentenced to up to five years in jail if convicted. At the time of writing, he was being held in lieu of $30,000 bail.
Sadly, officials haven’t released the details of Davis’ supposed injuries. However, good old-fashioned common sense would suggest if Davis was well enough to fight in MMA scraps, he’s well enough to fight fires. I mean, while most employees caught scamming are spotted lifting a heavy object or something, this dude was punching and kicking the crap out of other people.
